CIFAL Findhorn, the only UNITAR-affiliated training centre in Northern Europe, was established in September 2006.  An example of multi-stakeholder collaboration, CIFAL Findhorn represents a prestigious link between public sector organisations in Moray (N.E. Scotland), the Scottish Government, the United Nations and other sustainability centres of excellence.

CIFAL Findhorn offers a series of regional, national and international training events that focus on sustainable solutions to the many and varied challenges of climate change.  These seminars are aimed at both elected and technical staff of city, town and regional authorities.

The programmes offered by CIFAL Findhorn primarily address policy development and technical issues related to climate change.  The seminars offer an inter-disciplinary, collaborative approach which encourages participants to forge strategic alliances whereby sustainable action plans can be implemented.

CIFAL Findhorn is based at the Findhorn Ecovillage, known internationally since 1962 for its innovative new models for sustainable living. Having received Best Practice Designation from UN Habitat in 1998, the Findhorn Ecovillage works with intergovernmental agencies in educating and developing policy guidance for sustainable development.
