Dr. Daniel Aklil-D’Halluin (HND, BSc, MEng, PhD, MIET) – Dr. Aklil is Managing Director of the Pure Energy® Centre, Chairman of the Institute of Engineering and Technology North Network and Director of the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association. Daniel is also a Board Member of the Mexican Hydrogen Association, Board Member of Nordsesil and to the North Alliance Hydrogen Assoaciation. Dr. Aklil is a frequent speaker at Energy and Hydrogen conferences and the author/ co-author of over 30 publications. He is trilingual French, English and Arabic and a Non-Executive Director to several companies.


Martin Blake has over 25 years experience in business management and Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability. He has an MBA in Organisational Analysis and Strategic Management and a Doctorate in Business (DBA) focusing on Organisational Change. 
Martin has headed the CSR and Sustainability Team at Royal Mail since 2004 and is currently pioneering the commercialisation of hydrogen fuel cell technology. He is a board member of both the European Fuel Cell Association and the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association. 
Martin is an Associate Professor of Sustainable Business Development at two Australian universities: Griffith University and the University of Southern Queensland. He is also a director of Carbon Zero Solutions, a company which brokers finance for emerging cleantech companies.


Dr.-Ing. Klaus Bonhoff has a PhD in energy process engineering and was head of Fuel Cell Project at the Research Center Jülich. In 2001 he joined Ballard Power Systems GmbH as Manager for Business Development Europe.
From 2003 he worked for DaimlerChrysler AG within their fuel cell activities, including responsibilities for strategy, communications, global demonstration projects, political programmes and market development. In 2007 he received a contract with the German National Government to coordinate the German National Innovation Program Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies (NIP).
Since February 2008 he has been managing director (chair) of NOW GmbH National Organization Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology, which was established to run the NIP as a strategic alliance at the interface of politics, industry and science. Since June 2009 NOW is also in charge of coordinating and managing the funding programme Model Regions Electric-mobility for the Ministry for Transport, Building and Urban Development.

Anthony Brenninkmeijer Anthony Brenninkmeijer is the partner in charge of leading Hinicio in Europe since 2007 and is a Director of FuelCellEurope since 2008. Anthony has a double (UK- German) degree in European Business Administration and holds an MBA from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. Anthony has leading consulting skills and substantial experience at serving large and small organizations, managing complex processes in decision making and in particular in the innovation chain. In the last 20 years Anthony has besides business and finance focused his career on innovation management, process and organisation optimisation. He build his experience by working in different private a public fields, for large private corporations, in small start-ups and as a consultant with PwC. Anthony speaks Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish fluently. He has a true motivation to help elaborating solutions, think in new ways, use lessons learned and build cooperation's.

Mark Cavill
Mark Cavill is a sustainability and energy professional with the Royal Mail, currently the Energy and Building Engineering Services Manager focusing on decarbonising the 2500 buildings within the estate. Mark also has responsibility for innovation within the group- wide Carbon Management Programme, researching technologies and developing a wide range of projects including hydrogen vehicle deployment and rooftop PV. He is a member of the Scottish Government Hydrogen Working Group and has represented Royal Mail in the United Nations organised United Postal Union Sustainable Development Committee. Mark also directs Carbon Zero Solutions, a company which advises start ups through to large scale clean techs wishing to penetrate and gain traction within global markets.

Mark Cavill Dr Graham Cooley joined ITM on 29 June 2009 as CEO. Before joining Graham was CEO of Sensortec and Universal Sensors, founding CEO of Metalysis Ltd, a spin out of Cambridge University, and founding CEO of Antenova Ltd. Graham spent 11 years in the power industry developing conductive polymers, fuel cells, batteries and energy storage technologies. He was Business Development Manager for National Power Plc and International Power Plc and developed the Regenesys energy storage technology which was acquired by RWE from Innogy.Graham specialises in turning intellectual property and technology into products; identifying the product strategy and business model required to enter a target market and generate growth. He has a Degree in Physics, Phd in Materials Technology and an MBA.

Robert Evans Robert Evans is Chief Executive Officer of Cenex (Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies). Prior to joining Cenex Robert worked for Johnson Matthey, specialising in developing markets for vehicle emissions control technologies and fuel cells.  Robert holds Masters from Imperial College London and Leeds Trinity and All Saints University.  Robert is a Director of the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association and a Board Member of the newly merged UK Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association.

Mark Cavill Rupert Gammon is the Managing Director of Bryte Energy, a consultancy that designs, implements and operates integrated hydrogen and renewable energy systems and carries out market analysis and strategic studies for low-carbon energy technologies.  Rupert is Chair of the British Midlands Hydrogen Forum, a director of the UK Hydrogen Association and participates in expert panels for Tasks 18 & 24 of the International Energy Agency’s Hydrogen implementation Agreement.  He serves on the Advisory Committee of the UK Sustainable Hydrogen Energy Consortium and is also a Visiting Researcher at the Centre for Renewables Energy Systems Technology at Loughborough University.
Rupert has a degree in 3D Industrial Design and an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology and worked in the oil, gas and mineral exploration industries before conceiving, and working as part of a team on, the groundbreaking Hydrogen and Renewables Integration (HARI) project, the first of its kind in the UK. The team went on to establish Bryte Energy in 2005.

Mark Cavill Frank Koch is vice director of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Network North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany. He has been working for this network since April 2000. Before that he worked as project manager for the consultant company agiplan GmbH in Muelheim/Ruhr, Germany. There he managed a couple of automotive networks and clusters, e.g. in Styria, Austria, and NRW.
Frank Koch studied chemical engineering at the University of Dortmund where he made he diploma thesis in 1989 about the “Corrosion behaviour of stainless steels”. From 1990 till 1996 he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Environment, Safety and Energy Technology as head of the administration and scientist. In 1996 he finished his doctoral thesis about “The kinetics of oxidation of copper and iron sulfides in nitrogen dioxide atmosphere.”


John Lidderdale is a mechanical engineer whose involvement in alternative energy has been long standing. He first drove a hydrogen powered car in April 1974, was project manager for a 14MWe wind farm installation in 1987.
Latterly he was Vice-President of International Sales at SurePower Corporation who were among the first to make a multi Fuel Cell (4 x 200 kW) run successfully as an ultra-high-availability power source.

Jim Marther
Jim Mather MSP was born in March 1947, Jim Mather MSP was educated at Paisley Grammar, Greenock High School and Glasgow University, where he studied accountancy, law and economics. In 1964, he became an apprentice chartered accountant, going on on to work in the computer industry, latterly running his own business, before entering politics. >From 2000 until 2004, he was the party's National Treasurer. At the 2003 Scottish Parliament election, Jim was elected as a Highlands and Islands MSP. As Shadow Enterprise and Economy Minister, he was a member of the SNP's Shadow Cabinet. Mr Mather became the MSP for Argyll and Bute at the 2007 Scottish Parliament election and was appointed Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism. He has been involved in the development and promotion of the Economic Case for Independence and is a Director of Business for Scotland.
He is married with two children.


Derek Mitchell is project managing the development of the Hydrogen Office project in Methil (Fife), a cutting edge project to demonstrate the role that renewables and hydrogen can play in reducing the future impact of energy security of supply concerns and climate change.
Having been involved from the outset in securing the funding, building the project partnerships, and developing the novel energy system, Derek is now increasingly looking forward to the future. In particular the role the Hydrogen Office can play in: supporting the accelerated development of this fast emerging industry in Scotland; raising the profile of Scottish capabilities in this sector; and encouraging the development of a hydrogen and fuel cell technology cluster.

Derek is a Director of the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA) and sits on the Hydrogen and Fuel FREDs subgroup.

Rob Munn Rob Munn -  Deputy Lord Provost  Born in Canada, Rob Munn was was brought up in Perthshire and Fife and studied in Edinburgh at (the then) Napier College where he gained an HND in Communication Studies and later at Napier University, graduating in 2006 with a BA in Communication. Rob was originally elected to the City of Edinburgh Council in 1996 as the representative for Harbour ward where he served until 2003. He was re-elected to the new Leith ward in May 2007. He is Deputy Group Leader of the Council’s SNP Group, and a committee member for Policy & Strategy, Finance & Resources, Education, Children & Families, and Planning. Rob has worked in the public sector, notably at the National Library of Scotland, as well as retail and the voluntary sectors and is a member of the World Development Movement and Friends of the Earth Scotland, reflecting his interests in social justice and environmental issues.

Akito Tanke Mr. Akihito Tanke has been Executive Advisor to the President of Toyota Motor Europe since 2009 and is responsible for the energy research group. He received a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in 1979 from the Nagoya Institute of Technology and started his career in Toyota Motor Corporation as an engineer in the engine development division. He has been engaged in L4 & L6 gasoline engine and L4 diesel engine development and in 2000 became Vice President of Toyota Technical Center in USA, responsible for Powertrain and Chassis development. From 2005-2009 he was General Manager of the Regulation and Certification Division in Japan.

Ian Williamson
Andy Tempest was the Finance and Commercial director of Group Lotus plc between 1992 and 1996 when Lotus developed and launched the all new Elise sports car. From 1996 to 2001 he was the CEO of Hawtal Whiting Plc, a Global engineering consultancy where he was building the USA business for 3 years and then taking on the group CEO role. After that he moved on to Prodrive as Managing Director, where he worked until 2007 with responsibilities for a JV with Ford Australia, 3 businesses in USA, Thailand and 2 UK sites. Since 2007 he has been a Senior Partner of AGT Strategic Consultants developing the strategic plans of Intelligent Energy & Group Lotus specifically on the all new ultra low emissions lightweight delivery van.

Ian Williamson
Ian Williamson has 24 years experience with Air Products within the industrial gas sector, over ten years of which have been centered around the manufacture, provision, distribution and commercial sale of hydrogen.
His roles have included both cryogenic liquid and hydrogen product management within Europe. Has led the Hydrogen Energy group for the past six years and is currently the Hydrogen and Bio Energy Systems Director for Europe, Africa and India. Ian is also the director of CENEX (Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies) in the UK, Vice Chair of the European Hydrogen Association, Vice Chair of the UK Hydrogen Association and founding member of the EU Joint Technology Initiative.
